Adnan Ahmad, Vc & Md, Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited Industry, Says the India Growth Story Has Been a Heady Mix of Both Organic and Inorganic Growth, Which Has Enabled His Company to Consolidate Its Leadership Position Within the Specialty Chemicals Industry.
You took charge as the Region President for Clariant in India and also as the Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited effective June 1, 2017. What are the key focus areas for you in this initial stage?
The key focus for Clariant in India continues to be to drive profitable growth and develop talent for the corporation. We will do this while constantly innovating and keeping sustainability at the heart of what we do. Our investments and product offerings in masterbatches, pigments and additives business give us a distinctive edge to draw synergies with emerging trends and enhance overall returns.
We will focus on a segmented market strategy focusing on industrial segments such as agriculture, infrastructure, home and personal care, packaging, consumer goods, transportation among others.
With a widespread knowledge of the Indian markets, we understand the needs of our customers in India and will continue to provide tailor made solutions from our vast global product portfolio. While we focus on sweating our assets, we will continue to scout for strategic acquisition opportunities, towards enhancing shareholder value at a faster pace.
Clariant has also invested in a state-of-the-art Regional Innovation Center in Mumbai. Tell us about this Center in terms of its activities, capabilities and objectives.
The first Regional Innovation Center in India (RIC India) located in our state-of-the-art headquarters at Reliable Tech Park in Airoli, Navi Mumbai hosts a team of highly qualified technical employees in Chemical Research and Application Development efforts focusing on the areas of Surfactants, Specialty Polymers and Functional Chemicals.
The RIC primarily bundles research, application development and analytical laboratories, business functions and technical marketing under one roof. The Center fosters close collaboration with the local and regional customers, suppliers and scientific partners to identify the most relevant and attractive business opportunities.
