Lexus LC 500 - Paralleling The Excellence Of Katana
Corporate Traveller Magazine|Summer 2018

A katana – a samurai sword - was designed to exceed all expectations. It's not hard to spot the obvious parallels Lexus have drawn when including the katana in their design brief.

Lexus LC 500 - Paralleling The Excellence Of Katana

Concept cars have never really sat well with me. At each major motor show on the calendar, manufacturers turn up with their most outlandish and eccentric contraptions in an effort to create as much attention as possible. The main objective is for manufacturers to flex their muscles to demonstrate how good they are on paper. Other than an attention seeking exercise, I don't understand the point of going to all the expense only for us to hold our breath that the concept will make it to production. Nine times out of 10 they never do.

However holding our breath when Lexus came on the scene with the LF-LC concept was worthwhile when they announced the concept would enter the production fray as the LC500. We should have have known better than to question their vision when history has proven that Lexus doesn’t shy away from turning their dreams into reality. The introduction was a guaranteed highlight when Lexus introduced the LC500 via New Zealand's alpine retreat, Queenstown, in the winter of 2017.
