Tracing the roots of Shantanu and Nikhil’s aesthetic through their most iconic pieces.

FALL 2014, RANI SULTANAT

This was the first time we used red—but we chose a deeper, more saturated, more decadent shade. We wanted to highlight the fact that one doesn’t have to wear typical colours and shapes to feel strong and empowered.

FALL 2011, PERFUME

WE DESIGNED THIS SPECIALLY FOR SONAKSHI SINHA. SHE WAS NEW TO THE FILM INDUSTRY, AND AT THE TIME WASN’T A TYPICAL MODEL SIZE. IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR US TO PORTRAY HER AS SOMEONE WHO IS RELATABLE, AND WE WANTED TO SHOW THE SILHOUETTE OF HER FIGURE. THE NEHRU COLLAR AND CORSET DETAILS DEPICT POWER, AND WE BALANCED THE STRUCTURE OF THE TORSO WITH A VOLUMINOUS SKIRT.
