10TH MARCH. Interesting difference in attitude to this bug between a sleepy Caribbean island and big buzzing, high-tech Britain. As we passed through Tobago immigration last week, we had our temperatures taken by a person in a mask wielding a highly sophisticated remote recording device. But arriving back in Gatwick it was business as usual, with no one asking any searching questions like, where have we flown in from and how do we feel? Are our lot taking it seriously enough? Time will tell.
Just discovered that the first case of Covid-19 in the UK emanated from the Prince of Wales – not the heir to the throne, but the pub I used to drink in illegally as an under-age teen. Hope that isn’t portentous.
