Sharper looking than before and now with even better dynamics and more powerful engines, the all-new Audi A5 has its sights on the segment crown.

AUDI HAS PLACED much focus on making the all-new A5 its most refined and fashionable coupe saloon to date, something which is not surprising given how well the previous edition was received by style-conscious enthusiasts the world over. While it may not look a whole lot different to its predecessor a keen eye will notice the introduction of new lines, chiselled contours and other muscular references, particularly around the haunches. Of course it shares a large amount of its design rhetoric with its A4 sibling – the MLB Evo platform architecture included – but it’s in the details where it truly distinguishes itself from other models in the Audi stable.

For starters it employs a shallower and wider single-frame grille which together with the faceted bonnet (or ‘power dome’ as Audi likes to call it) makes for some menacing rear-view presence à la Audi TT. Other standout exterior traits include the nifty 3D-look sculptural tail lamps and polished aluminium trim that gets broader towards the C-pillar instilling it with something Audi calls ‘the perfect Quattro proportion’, referencing the UrQuattros of yesteryear.
