It was in February this year that Hyundai Motor India had introduced the Grand i10 Nios – Sportz Variant with the very popular 1.0-litre Turbo GDi engine. Then covid came in spoiled all the fun. This variant has some cosmetic changes of which we shall talk later. Why do I call it a popular engine? It’s obvious that this same engine does splendid service across the Hyundai and Kia stables within the Hyundai Motor group globally and in India.
This engine dishes out power depending on the model and the segment. Since the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is a small car, the power derived from this engine for this car is more than adequate. Or else, frankly speaking, Hyundai would have to build massive spoilers at the rear to prevent it from lifting off to the skies. And I am not joking, it would have been a lot of power for this car to handle at 120hp. At 99hp, it’s more than adequate.
ENGINE 1.0L Turbo Petrol (998cc)
MAX POWER 99hp@6,000rpm
PEAK TORQUE 171.62hp@1,5004,000rpm
