Designing a Functional Bed for Security, Style, and All Your Stuff

A truck bed is a wonderful thing. At least it can be with a little planning and the right pieces. Going off-road means there are things that can do harm to your truck, and it’s a flat-out necessity to have what you may need to help get you back down the trail.

Items such as spare tires and the hilifting jack needed to get a big truck off the ground are essential items. A good selection of tools, two straps, and other recovery items are essential. Some items, like recovery boards, are a good idea to have on hand when the ground surface is working against your rig, and some items are needed on runs, and not others.

Curtis Zamora of Rite Performance was tasked with turning a very utilitarian truck bed into one that has what would be needed when things go wrong, be somewhat modular in that some items will be swapped out for others depending on the situation, and also upgrading the security of the entire truck. Yes, all that, and while this Ford may not be a million-dollar prerunner, adding a little style at the same time couldn’t hurt.
