The Mahindra Baja SAEINDIA is considered as a proving ground for engineering students from across the globe. Pratik Rakshit reports from Indore.
The event, now in its 12th year, allows students to conceptualise, design, build, test and validate a single-seater four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle to take part in events that aim to test the its endurance. These off-road buggies are put through sets of demanding events at NATRiP’s (National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project) NATRAX (National Automotive Test Tracks) in Pithampur, just 40kms away from Indore. How did the teams perform but? We find out.
Before getting into the much anticipated Endurance Race, let’s understand the event first. A total of 363 teams from across the country registered but only 251 were qualified for this year’s Baja series. Out of these, 170 teams took part in the Pitampur round, while the rest will be seen at the IIT Ropar round this month. The four-day event comprises of technical inspection of the vehicles and multiple dynamic events.
