In today’s day and age, a premium tag is something which excites. Be it electronics or hospitality, the premium is always better. In sync with this philosophy, Maruti Suzuki is trying to reinvent the Ertiga MPV. By the way, the Ertiga even in these hard times is garnering a strong waiting period. Hence this move makes for a proper case for itself.
The XL6 is based on the Suzuki’s fifth-generation Heartect platform which had earlier been deployed in the Swift, Dzire, Ciaz and the Ertiga on which the XL6 is based. Maruti Suzuki says that this new generation platform offers better safety and rigidity and is perfect for these cars and having driven the Ertiga we can surely say that the platform is a success. As far as dimensions go, the XL6 is mildly longer, wider and taller than the Ertiga on which it is based. The MPV now gets a quad-LED headlamp unit and a new grille and bumper set. Scuff plates and claddings have been added all-around to give the XL6 a crossover look. The alloys remain same as the Ertiga but are now painted black. Roof rails have also been added.
