NEXEN TIRE YJ ROCK CRAWLER
4LOW Offroad Magazine|June/July 2020
The thought of building a YJ rock crawler never crossed my mind - not in a million years. Circumstances change. Four years ago, I was asked by SA Designs to write a book covering Jeep Wrangler JK modifications.

NEXEN TIRE YJ ROCK CRAWLER

I asked Quinn Thomas, a good friend, and owner of All J Products in Big Bear to co-author the book. That project was easy. We were also asked to consider a TJ book after completing the JK book. No problem. Quinn owns a TJ that he was modifying. When we completed the JK book, the TJ book project was handed over to another author. The publisher then offered us a YJ book project. YJ?? We didn’t have one of those handy. Despite serious misgivings, we agreed to the project. We started looking for a YJ to build as part of the book project. We discovered buying a decent YJ was going to cost more than we would make on the book. Then the search got weird!
