After trying unsuccessfully to find an apprenticeship at the age of 18, he turned to various service industry jobs. Then with the passing of his mother, Mitch decided it was time to go to college, and enrolled for engineering. After college he became a mechanical engineer, designing fire sprinkler systems for commercial buildings in the Midwest Area. Then, after 4 years of engineering...and not loving it, he decided just on a whim to stop into Lucky Gal Tattoo on Des Moines&rsquo; Southside and asked for an apprenticeship. Oddly enough they just said, &ldquo;Yes.&rdquo; So, he left engineering to tattoo full time. &ldquo;Do what makes you happy.
