The recently concluded 10th anniversary edition of the PAN (Performance Art Network) Asia Festival, centred around the theme ‘A.L.A.R.M. – Approaches to Live Art in the Revolution of Media’, cemented the importance of performance art within the contemporary arts landscape.

In spite of geographical proximity, Asian countries are still grappling to create an independent space for artistic discourse within the Western contextual framework. Over the past decade, PAN has offered a platform for forging a network of professionals and artistes in the fields of performance art from around 20 Asian countries, while also inviting non-Asian performance artists in keeping with the inclusiveness of the medium itself.
