Dot, Dash, Line and its Narrative
It starts with a dot: the immediate effect of putting pen to paper, the first mark on the blank canvas. Stretch the mark a little in any direction and there you have it: a dash – an entity that grows first into a line that divides the drawing plane.

The line then stretches and multiplies into shapes that take on forms, proportions, perspectives and then becomes a drawing and acquires narratives that carry the capacity to convey multiple ideas, thoughts and journeys. Art Houz Gallery’s latest show in Chennai titled Dot, Dash, Line and its Narratives, spoke in depth about the integral role played by drawings in the artistic and creative processes, both as an art form and as a medium.
