IS there a good time to buy a new horse? Perhaps not when your wife is seven months pregnant, it’s nearly Christmas and your work van has just died, but Mac “seemed to find his way to us”. For Jonathon Jarrett, North Staffordshire joint-master, he beat horses such as “Archie the pig” who was bought for £1 and appeared in War Horse, and quirky Lordy.
Mac was advertised in 2015 as being “too much horse” for his owner and for far less than she had paid. Accordingly, Jonathon and his wife, Emily, set off to Manchester to view him one dark evening. In a school with limited lighting, they watched him loose-jump.
