HOW DOES BIRTH ORDER AFFECT RELATIONSHIPS?

Star signs are great and attachment styles have their place, but have you ever tried analysing you and your partner's compatibility depending on your place in the family tree?

Birth Order Theory - the idea that what order you were born in affects your personality - is having a moment right now thanks to TikTok, but the idea actually dates back to the early 1900s, when Austrian psychologist Alfred Adler proposed that children may have certain traits depending on where they fit into the family.

Alfred was one of the first to suggest that the distinct linked with characteristics birth order could have a significant impact on your personality, career and relationships.

Woman's Day talked to Bumble's resident sexologist Chantelle Otten, who has taken the #eldestdaughtersyndrome TikTok trend and applied it to your dating life. Her guide reveals what green and red flags your birth order may predispose you to - and the relationship negotiations that come with specific pairings.

So whether you're a responsible first born, a compromising middle, a charming youngest or a self-assured only child, Bumble's Birth Order Theory Dating Guide is here to help you navigate, negotiate and nurture your dating life in your own unique way.
