Scheffler's latest triumph adds to an already glittering resume, joining two Masters titles and the PGA Championship he won earlier this year. Only the US Open remains for a career Grand Slam. He becomes just the second world No.1 to win The Open since rankings began in 1986, alongside Tiger Woods. And whenever a statistic includes only Woods and one other name, the significance is clear.
