SMC power unit triples profit to P42 B after $3.3-B LNG deal
November 17, 2025
|The Philippine Star
The power business of conglomerate San Miguel Corp. more than tripled its profit in the first nine months after closing a $3.3-billion liquefied natural gas deal with business titans Manuel V. Pangilinan and Sabin Aboitiz.
Led by tycoon Ramon Ang, San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corp. (SMGP) posted a net income of P42.4 billion from January to September, reflecting a 215-percent surge from P13.5 billion a year ago.
The surge was mainly attributed to a P21.9-billion revaluation gain from the dilution of its equity interests in South Premiere Power Corp. (SPPC), Excellent Energy Resources Inc. (EERI) and Ilijan Primeline Industrial Estate Corp. (IEPC).
