DMW to require employer-worker video conference

To promote ethical and transparent recruitment, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said it will now require the implementation of a "know your employer scheme" through a mandatory video conference between the prospective domestic worker and employer.

"To improve transparency and informed consent, there shall be a mandatory video interview between the domestic worker and employer before contract finalization or prior to departure," DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac said in an advisory.

"Right now, the domestic worker leaves for work abroad without knowing the employer, so we will require video conference that involves both sides. It goes vice versa since the employer also doesn't know who will serve as his/her domestic worker," he said.
