MATOSHREE Dakshayini Avvaji took over as the President of the centenary celebrating Sharnbasveshwar Vidya Vardhaka Sangha and Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University at a function in Anubhava Mantap in the Sharanabasaveshwar Shrine Complex in Kalaburagi city on Wednesday.
Avvaji has the honour of becoming the first woman president of the Sangha, which runs a chain of educational institutions and also has the unique honour to be the second woman to don the post of the chancellor of a private university---Sharnbasva University---with rich academic experience and knowledge. Dr Sabitha Ramamurty is the other Women Chancellor of CMR University. Both the posts had remained vacant after the death of 8th Mahadasoha Peetadipathi of the Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan Poojya Sharnbaswappa Appaji on August 14.
In her address after assuming the charge of the two posts, emotionally charged Avvaji declared that the dream of Sharanabasappa Appaji to provide quality education at affordable cost and educational empowerment of women would be implemented with renewed vigour during her tenure and continue the path laid down by Appaji for opening new avenues of educational opportunities for the people of the Kalaburagi region.
