GOLDEN GREAT

Band Of Gold launched on ITV on March 12, 1995, and writer Kay Mellor’s gritty crime drama had viewers gripped from the start.

It was a breakthrough role for a young Samantha Morton who played a 15-year-old runaway called Tracy and the series also featured Geraldine James as Rose and Cathy Tyson as Carol.

Singer Barbara Dickson appeared as Anita Braithwaite who rented out rooms in her flat to the women. She also sang a version of Love Hurts over the credits.
