It is believed that several people who had been temporary workers at Wimbledon, working within the hospitality and housekeeping sections, abruptly lost their job for reasons such as going to the toilet without asking.
At least three temporary workers lost their jobs for sitting on the hill with a drink, despite this being after their shift had ended.
One 19-year-old university student on a gap year who was working at the tournament as part of the housekeeping team, said that they were at first "chuffed" to get their shifts as they were relatively well paid.
