Wicked fans find fun and friendship in dressing up
Outside one of Leicester Square's cinemas in London, small crowds decked out in green, pink and glitter formed an array of excited fairies and witches. As Wicked: For Good landed in UK cinemas on Friday, some fans decided that simply watching the film was not enough. They wanted to wear it.
For Nicola Deane, 33, and her sister Chloe, 27, that instinct came naturally. The pair travelled from Ireland for what they described as “a full weekend of dressing up”, part of a sibling tradition.
Dressed in matching green and pink outfits, the pair wanted to channel Wicked’s main characters. “Elphaba’s a bit of a badass, and I think I am too,” said Nicola, while Chloe, the “more girlie” sister, opted for Glinda-style pink.
