Scandal Widens as Letters Sent to Financier Are Published

The long-running scandal around the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein broadened yesterday after the New York Times published a trove of previously unseen letters to the financier from numerous powerful figures as well as unseen photos from inside his Manhattan mansion.
The letters, written to Epstein by high-profile individuals, were reportedly compiled as a birthday gift for Epstein's 63rd birthday in 2016. Their publication comes amid intense speculation around Donald Trump's ties to Epstein, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019.
In one letter, former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak and his wife wrote: "There is no limit to your curiosity." "You are like a closed book to many of them but you know everything about everyone," they wrote, describing Epstein as "a collector of people".
