FOR six hours on just one night in May 1941, the Luftwaffe dropped over 1,000 tonnes of bombs on London.

More than 1,400 people died, 11,000 houses were destroyed and some of the country's most important buildings were hit, including the Houses of Parliament.

But London wasn't alone in being targeted by German bombers. And this wasn't an isolated night.
