Services disrupted for over three hours
The Free Press Journal|April 30, 2024
On the first day of the work week, on a scorcher of a morning, Central Railway commuters on Harbour Line had to endure the extra torment of a derailment - a coach of a Panvel-CSMT local train slipped off the rails at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on Monday morning, throwing suburban services for a toss.
Services disrupted for over three hours

The incident occurred around 11.35am, as the train was entering Platform No. 2, resulting in the cancellation of 52 local trains and the short termination of 26 others at Wadala.

No passengers were injured in the derailment; however, the disruption caused significant inconvenience to commuters. Harbour Line suburban services were suspended between CSMT and Wadala, leaving many stranded and scrambling for alternative transport at options. Initially, CSMT-bound local trains stranded between Wadala and CSMT were terminated at Masjid, compounding the chaos for commuters.
