After the hoarding collapse in Ghatkopar on Monday that claimed 16 lives, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation has decided that presently, no new hoardings will be permitted in the city. Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani has said that it is mandatory to follow the standards set by the BMC, as well as traffic police, whenever hoardings are sought to be displayed on public or private land in Mumbai. Action will be initiated under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, if the authorities fail to comply with the norms, he warned, at a joint meeting in the held BMC headquarters on Thursday evening.
