HC seeks police affidavit on widow’s SIT probe call

Shehzeen suspects conspiracy of builder lobby, a politician; claims real culprits not nabbed

In the Baba Siddique murder case, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday directed the investigating officer (IO) and the joint commissioner of police (crime) to file their reply affidavits in response to a petition iled by the victim's widow, seeking a probe by a courtmonitored special investigation team (SIT).

Siddique, 66, was shot dead by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra East on the night of October 12, 2024. Shehzeen Siddique, wife of the former minister, has sought transfer of the probe to an “independent and impartial agency”, claiming the police have intentionally avoided arresting the real culprits. They have attributed the killing to gangster Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, she said in the petition filed through senior advocate Pradeep Gharat and advocate Trivankumar Karnani.
