I'm no rogue cop - suspended commissioner
October 15, 2025
|The Citizen
Suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya is not troubled by the fact that an ordinary citizen possessed sensitive information.
Sibiya yesterday elaborated on his earlier testimony at parliament's ad hoc committee investigating corruption in the SA Police Service (Saps), that ANC member Oupa "Brown" Mogotsi had warned him SA Police Crime Intelligence was after him.
Mogotsi, along with Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, an attempted murder accused and tenderpreneur, is a key figure in allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
ANC MP Xola Nqola asked whether Sibiya considered himself a "rogue police officer".
"I've never been a rogue officer in my 37 years in the police. I deny the allegations," Sibiya replied.
Nqola pressed him on his relationship with Mogotsi, questioning whether it was appropriate for a civilian to provide him with Crime Intelligence information.
