40 YEARS ON...AND VICTIMS AT FOREFRONT OF CITY MINDS

On May 11, 1985, when Bradford City hosted Lincoln, a fire broke out in the main stand, killing 56 people and injuring at least 265.

An annual city-centre memorial service ensures that those who perished are never forgotten, but today's 40th anniversary tributes have extra resonance.

For the Bantams clinched their first promotion in 12 years last Saturday after Antoni Sarcevic's dramatic goal in the sixth minute of injury time secured a 1-0 win against Fleetwood to finish third in League Two, ahead of Walsall by one point.
