Forget Tenerife, Glasgow will be hotter this week

SCOTLAND is set to sizzle this weekend, with temperatures to be higher than those in Tenerife.

The sensational spring sunshine which has blessed us for weeks shows no sign of letting up, with the west of Scotland expected to enjoy the UK's highest temperatures today.

While Glasgow will glow in 75F on Friday, Tenerife in the Canary Islands will struggle with just 66F and clouds.

By Sunday, when the popular Spanish resort is down to just 64F (18C) and rain, Scotland's biggest city will bask under a sunny 72F (22C).

And a Scots brewer reckons it's time the country's workers were dispatched to the beer garden if, as looks likely, the mercury goes above 68F today.

Beer specialists Innis & Gunn have launched the 3PM Pledge an initiative urging employers to let their hardgrafting teams down tools at 3pm today, crack open a cold one, and soak up the rare Scottish sunshine.
