Nearly 300 drivers get street racing warning letters from the police

FORCE SAYS: 'NOTTINGHAMSHIRE IS NOT A PERSONAL RACE TRACK'
HUNDREDS of drivers have been formally warned after being spotted street racing or attending unregistered car meets.
Nottinghamshire Police say they have sent 295 warning letters to motorists seen actively street racing, participating in antisocial behaviour, or attending unregistered car meets.
The force said drivers raced at high speeds, performed risky stunts, revved engines loudly or set off fireworks.
Officers recorded the number plates of more than 1,500 vehicles and seized eight high-performance cars.
Sergeant Emily Hewitt said: "We are determined to help prevent further serious or fatal road traffic collisions on Nottinghamshire roads.
