MUM HAILS CALM DAD WHO GAVE GIRL BORN 'BLUE' MOUTH TO MOUTH

I'm so proud of my Reece for saving our baby's life

A MUM has credited her partner with saving their baby girl’s life after he helped deliver her in the bath at home before giving her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Reece Burns, 28, from Tameside, had to spring into action after his fiancee Shelby Lomax’s waters broke and she suddenly went into labour.

Unable to make it to hospital, Reece had to follow the instructions of a 999 operator to deliver baby girl Casaiya at their home in Droylsden. Terrifyingly, she was born ‘blue’ and not breathing.

As instructed, Reece blew into her airways and she began breathing lightly just as paramedics arrived and took over.

Casaiya and Shelby, 27, were rushed to hospital and the baby spent three days on a neonatal intensive care unit. But both mum and baby are well and now back at home, where the tot is ‘thriving’ following the whirlwind delivery.

Shelby, a supermarket supervisor, has been with PhD student Reece for five years and they got engaged last July. They already have a son Koah, three, and Shelby is step-mum to Reece’s son Ezra, six. Casaiya’s due date was last Friday but there was no movement and Shelby said she slept as normal that night.
