Buttler pushing hard to blast Lancs to trophy

England’s white ball captain joined the Red Rose from Somerset in 2013 in a bid to boost his chances of playing international cricket.

He certainly did that, having helped his nation to World Cup triumphs in both 50 and 20-over formats and wracking up 57 Test caps, making his red ball debut for England a year after moving to Emirates Old Trafford.

However, his international commitments and his contracts in the Indian Premier League has meant his appearances for Lancashire have been limited. The 32-year-old has played just 16 first-class games for the Red Rose, four List A matches and 41 T20 games.

But he is now set for a 10-game stint in the Blast for his county, starting with tonight’s blockbuster Roses clash against Yorkshire at Headingley.
