HOWARD: VAR GOT VVD CALL SPOT ON

HOWARD WEBB insists the decision to disallow Virgil van Dijk's header against Manchester City was "not unreasonable".

Liverpool defender Van Dijk thought he had equalised on Sunday when heading home a corner.

However, the goal was disallowed due to Reds teammate Andy Robertson being in an offside position.

Robertson ducked under the ball while in the six-yard box with the on-field decision of offside supported by VAR.

Impact

PGMOL chief Webb said: “The ball goes just over his [Robertson’s] head, and the ball finds the goal in the half of the six-yard box where he is.

“Then, the officials have to make a judgment - did that clear action impact on [Manchester City goalkeeper, Gianluigi] Donnarumma, the goalkeeper, and his ability to save the ball? And that's where the subjectivity comes into play.
