Mass effort to help grocer pay €20k energy bill

A PRIEST has used his Mass pulpit to urge locals to help a grocer pay a €20,000 electricity bill.

The Irish Mirror last week exclusively revealed shop owner Flora Crowe was facing the huge demand.

Fr Harry Bohan, 83, used his weekend homily about supporting her and other local businesses in Sixmilebridge in Co Clare and urged energy companies to do the same.

He told the Irish Mirror: “Local businesses like Flora’s are the lifeblood of the community.

“Some people might say I have no business in business as a priest, but when the business is the business of a community, it is my business.”

Fr Bohan said: “Shops are where people meet and chat and it gives a purpose to their day. Flora and people like her provide a great service.
