Tryon and Dercksen steer Proteas Women to conciliation victory over Sri Lanka
May 10, 2025
|Independent on Saturday
CHLOE Tryon and Annerie Dercksen played a sensational game of cricket yesterday to help the Proteas thump Sri Lanka by 76 runs for a conciliation victory in an otherwise bleak Tri-Series.
The Proteas were coming off a 23-run defeat at the hands of India, losing two in a row to a dominant team that has led the series so far.
Captain Laura Wolvaardt praised the young Dercksen and said the series was a foundation for her to break into the scene with a bang with her ton against the Sri Lankans.
Tryon on the other end, who returned to international cricket from a year-long absence due to a back injury, looked right at home in the final group match against Sri Lanka.
India was the other team playing in the series, and will face Sri Lanka in the final match of the series tomorrow.
