Modi lauds U'khand for UCC, curbing demographic change

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the Pushkar Singh Dhami-led government in Uttarakhand for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and curbing demographic changes, which he said has become a model for other states.
“The seriousness with which the Dhami government implemented the UCC is an example for other states. The state government has adopted bold policies on issues of national interest, such as the anti-conversion law and the riot control law,” Modi said while addressing an event on the occasion of the silver jubilee of the state's formation at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun.
“The government is taking firm action on demographic changes and has shown exemplary commitment in disaster management and public assistance”, the Prime Minister added.
