Chinese giant weighs up bid for Currys

A BID battle for Currys loomed today after China's largest online retailer said it is mulling a potential offer for the electricals chain.
The disclosure by JD.com that it is in the early stage of reviewing its options follows the rejection of an approach by US investor Elliott Advisors worth £700 million.
The weekend developments sent FTSE 250-listed Currys above the 62p a share proposed by Elliott, up 34% or 16.2p to its highest level in almost a year at 63.3p.
However, one leading Currys investor told Sky News last night it believed the company's board should be holding out for at least 75p a share or £800 million.
