Movember movement: Changing the face of men's health

November 22, 2025

|

Edinburgh Evening News

Men's health is in crisis. Prostate cancer, suicide, heart disease, depression - it's no wonder that blokes die on average more than four years earlier than women.

And Movember isn't just an excuse to grow some interesting face furniture without your other half complaining or being accused of having a Tom Selleck fetish. It's a chance to shine a spotlight on a myriad of issues.

The Government's upcoming men's health strategy is described as "an important opportunity to help drive down male suicide rates and improve the system so men feel safe, listened to, and accepted for who they are".

Famous faces such as Professor Green, Ugo Monye, Olly Bowman, Paul Olima and Dominic Lawrence have taken part in a series of interviews on Movember's YouTube channels to explore masculinity, mental health and resilience.
