Nats are accused of squandering devolution

WASTED CHANCES

ANAS Sarwar will accuse the SNP of "squandering" devolution after becoming distracted by "internal divisions".

The Scottish Labour leader will unveil reforms to Holyrood 25 years after the Parliament was set up.

He will also launch a series of policy summits to prepare the groundwork for the next Scottish Parliament election.

Sarwar's speech today comes as a poll shows his resurgent party is on course for its best general election in a generation.

An analysis of a Redfield and Wilton survey showed the SNP falling from 43 seats to 13 MPs, with Labour soaring from two to 33.

Polls have also revealed pro-UK parties are in line for a majority of seats after the next Holyrood poll, which would likely install Sarwar as first minister.

In his speech today, Sarwar will claim the SNP has left every institution weakened after 17 years in charge.
