New show reveals secrets of life with Cowells

SIMON Cowell is candidly honest on his 12-year romance with his fiancée Lauren and love for their son Eric in a new documentary.

Simon Cowell: The Next Act follows the Britain's Got Talent judge and music mogul, who discovered One Direction over 15 years ago, as he searches for the next big boy band to follow in their footsteps.

And Simon, 66, describes the soul-searching he had to do before going on with the series following the death of One Direction star Liam Payne last year.

The six-part Netflix series shows the process of forming the new band while also giving a candid insight into Simon's family life at home with Lauren, 48, and Eric, 11.

"The best thing that ever, ever happened in my life was having my son, Eric," Simon says in the series.

"It's been so much fun because I've been able to live my childhood through Eric.

"One of the reasons I've decided to do this is I'd like to show him what his dad has done."

Eric is at the forefront of Simon's mind even more so when he learns about Liam Payne's death.

The singer, 31, died in October last year in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after falling from a hotel balcony.
