The EastEnders actress added: "It is a very special moment for us because hopefully it showed how powerful TV can be, where it has actually introduced changes. It has even helped the BSL (British Sign Language) law be passed." The soap star had campaigned for BSL to be recognised as an official language and be given legal status in the UK.
Yin-credible for Sir Billy SIR Billy Connolly joked that he was happy to receive the prestigious Bafta fellowship "now my career is out the window” in a pre-recorded message. The Big Yin, 79, who has Parkinson's disease, said: "I am very proud to receive this. "Life is good. I couldn't be happier."
