Opening the case for the publisher, Andrew Green KC said some allegations were made with "no basis".
The only other trial in the long litigation ended with eight people given £1.2million compensation in 2015 for "serious infringements of their privacy rights". Mr Green said the four current claims are "a very long way" from those in terms of evidence.
The claims brought by four individuals, including Prince Harry, against MGN Ltd titles The Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People, entered their third day of a trial yesterday.
They include voicemail interception, securing information through deception and hiring private investigators for unlawful activities.
