Webster is star man but Gary likes group 'attitude'

INEVITABLY, the first thing for manager Gary Bowyer to talk about after Burton Albion's 2-1 opening-day win over Mansfield Town was the quality of Charlie Webster's two stunning goals from outside the box.

The first left Stags keeper Liam Roberts rooted to the spot as a shot that seemed to be going straight at him curved away into the top corner of the net, while the second beat Roberts’ dive to his left as Webster found the corner of the net.

“We've got a camera behind the goal and his first one, the movement in it, the technique is Premiership, it’s outstanding,” said Bowyer.

“I'm not exaggerating, you know I don’t go overboard on things but that technique is Premiership.

“He has that in his game, as we know, and to start the season the way he has is terrific.

“He's done a lot of work preseason on his shooting - but also on his defending and I was really pleased with that as well.”
