Ready to shine City at heart of the action as Red Roses aim for glory

THE eyes of the sporting world will be on Bristol this weekend as Ashton Gate plays host to the Women's Rugby World Cup.

The stadium is playing host to two quarterfinal matches, including England's clash with Scotland at 4pm on Sunday.

The previous day Canada will be taking on Australia - and next weekend the semifinals will also be played in Bristol.

The stadium's 27,000 capacity is expected to be tested throughout but those without tickets can enjoy the atmosphere and games at a fan zone on the Harbourside.

The free-to-enter area at Canon's Marsh Amphitheatre will host live match screenings, headline music performances, circus, dance, public art and family-friendly activities - all timed to coincide with the four knockout stage matches.

A major highlight of the programme is the appearance of BBC Introducing artist Hunny Buzz, who will headline the main stage on the second weekend, bringing national attention to Bristol's celebration of women's rugby.
