Grants available for projects to help in fight against loss of biodiversity in the county
January 21, 2026
|Brentwood Gazette
BIODIVERSITY in Essex is set for a cash boost, making a big difference to vital habitats across the county.
-
Grant funding is now available for local community projects aiming to connect, create or restore critical natural spaces in the fight to stop the decline of wildlife.
Administered by the Essex Local Nature Partnership, the Local Nature Partnership Community Fund is offering support for a wide variety of schemes with applications open for grants between £500 and £2,000.
Funding will be guided by the recently-published Essex Local Nature Recovery Strategy, which identifies areas with the most potential for boosting natural habitats and encouraging wildlife.
It is hoped that key projects will focus on areas of maximum impact and potential to reverse the decline in the county's biodiversity and help nature to recover.
The initiative will support projects which deliver environmental and community benefits, taking an holistic approach to nature recovery where the whole site and the community are shown to be considered.
