DES sets up war room in the South

24-hour monitoring of Hat Yai, Songkhla

Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob has ordered a 24-hour war room be set up to monitor flooding in the South particularly in Hat Yai district of Songkhla and ensure uninterrupted telecommunications services for people seeking assistance.

The command centre is coordinating closely and sharing real-time data with the Meteorological Department, the National Statistical Office and the Hydro-Informatics Institute to guarantee rapid alerts in the event of further emergencies, especially in Hat Yai, the hardest-hit area, Mr Chaichanok said yesterday.
