They don’t do things by halves at Ranthambore’s hottest new hotel. On my first night at Bookmark Resorts, Jogi Mahal, Ranthambore, despite my weak protests, I was plied with a five-course continental meal, the highlight of which was catfish from the lake, the ‘catch of the day’. This set the tone for the rest of the trip and I luxuriated in the hospitality that Rajasthan is justly famed for, from being deep-tissue pummelled at the Sansha Spa where you can choose from five different massage oils, to having thoughtful picnic hampers at hand whenever we set out in search of the elusive big cat.
