ARTYZEN SINGAPORE

Artyzen Singapore's approach to flora draws inspiration from the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, weaving lush greenery throughout its design. Opened in September 2023 by Hong Kong-based Artyzen Hotels and Resorts, the hotel is a celebration of Singapore's unique heritage, particularly Peranakan culture and its moniker as a "Garden City". Stepping inside, you're transported to a bygone era a journey into a vibrant past but, of course, with modern comforts.

Artyzen stands on the former grounds of Villa Marie, a mansion built by Tan Hoon Siang, great-grandson of famed philanthropist Tan Tock Seng and a passionate botanist. This piece of history is already clear from the grand lobby. Bold florals and intricate details whisper stories of babas and nyonyas past, with orchids - Singapore's favoured bloom standing out amid the arrangements, weaving an evocative connection to the city.

Perhaps, the best way to experience this amalgamation of botany and heritage is at the Terrace Suite. Like all the rooms at Artyzen, its design feels like an ultra-modern spin on a traditional shophouse, and the nostalgia and cosiness of it comes across, too. A large shophouse artwork hangs above the bed, while pottery with peony and phoenix motifs lend Eastern touches. The real showstopper here is the sprawling balcony that provides a panoramic view of Orchard Road. Surprisingly versatile, this stupendously spacious balcony could even host an intimate wedding or a party.
