Vacheron Constantin Overseas Moon Phase Retrograde Date
Alongside the jumping hour, the retrograde display has been part of the Vacheron Constantin universe for almost a century. Perfectly suiting the pure and elegant design of its timepieces, this complication has become a regular source of inspiration for Vacheron Constantin. On its most popular model, the Overseas line incorporated the retrograde display for the first time ever at this year's Watches and Wonders. Given its legacy as a complication for classic watches, it took several months of aesthetic research for the team to find the right balance for a sports-elegance timepiece while ensuring great legibility for the retrograde date and moon phase. To pull off this intricate coupling, the Maison's hallmark classical retrograde date feature had to be incorporated in a modern sportive timepiece without looking out of place: The blue-tinted retrograde hand proved crucial in overcoming this obstacle. The next step was to figure out how to show the phases of the moon without making the watch look too formal. Within the collection, the Overseas Moon Phase Retrograde Date thus offers a rare combination in which technology is placed in the service of style, emblematic of the Maison's deft approach at both horological and aesthetic know-how. For enhanced user-friendliness, all adjustments of the calibre 2460 R31L/2 are done via the crown.
